The 21 New Jersey County Clerks today announced that their offices have processed a tremendous volume of applications, and issued a record setting number of Vote by Mail Ballots to registered voters for the upcoming November 6th election.
As a result of a new State law passed in August, mandating that all voters who were issued a Vote by Mail Ballot in the Nov 2016 Election automatically be issued a Vote by Mail Ballot for the 2018 Nov Mid-Term Election, the number of Vote by Mail Ballots has seen an extraordinary increase in volume. Specifically, in the last mid term election cycle, November 2014, a total of 143,094 Vote by Mail Ballots were cast compared to 553,606 Vote by Mail Ballots that have been issued thus far in 2018.
A complete breakdown of the quantity of Vote by Mail Ballots issued for all 21 Counties is contained in the attached spreadsheet. In addition, statistics compiled by the NJ Div. Of Elections outlining the number of Vote by Mail ballots cast in Nov. 2014, the last midterm election, is also attached for volume comparison.
County Clerks remind voters that although the deadline has passed (which was Tuesday, October 30th) for their offices to accept thru the mail a Vote by Mail application, any registered voter can apply in person at their offices, and obtain, over the counter, a Vote by Mail Ballot for the upcoming Nov 6th election until Monday, November 5th at 3pm. Voters can go to www.coanj.com on the internet to find info for the location and hours of their respective County Clerk office.
