FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Election Officials will host a press conference inside the Superintendent of Elections Office at the Special Services Complex on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 9 a.m. at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold.
Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon and other County Election Officials will provide voters with an overview of the new early-in person voting option in New Jersey beginning this General Election. A new State law was passed earlier this year mandating the option which allows registered New Jersey voters to cast their ballots in person, using a voting machine, during a nine day period prior to Election Day at designated early voting polling locations.
In order to implement this early in-person voting option, all 21 counties in New Jersey were required to purchase new voting technology so voters could access their specific ballots at any of the early in-person polling locations in the county. All 21 counties will now use electronic poll books for early in-person voting and on Election Day.
In addition to the electronic poll books, Monmouth County also invested in new voting machines so all in-person voters will use the same technology whether voting early or on Election Day.
Both the new electronic poll books and voting machines utilize touch screen technology and will be on display for a tutorial at this press conference.
Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, Monmouth County Superintendent of Elections Mary DeSarno, Monmouth County Board of Elections Secretary Allan Roth, and Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone will make remarks.
When: 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021
