COUNTY CLERK HANLON RECEIVES INAUGURAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD FROM THE MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY

Award honors historic preservation advocacy in our community

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is honored to be the recipient of the Inaugural Historic Preservation Award from the Middletown Township Public Library. She accepted the award at the Middletown Township Public Library’s 100 Year Celebration Gala on Oct. 29 at Jacques Reception Center.

The Historic Preservation Award recognizes an individual or an organization who has been an outstanding advocate for historic preservation in our community through projects or programs.

“It is a true honor to be chosen as the first recipient of the Middletown Township Public Library’s Historic Preservation Award and to be recognized for my work while serving as the County Clerk for the County of Monmouth,” said Clerk Hanlon. “As the ‘Keeper of the Records,’ I am proud of all that the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office has accomplished with regard to preserving and protecting Monmouth County’s history for generations to come. Thank you to the Middletown Township Public Library and its Centennial Anniversary Committee for this recognition.”

Hanlon is currently serving in her second-term as Monmouth County Clerk and has served in the position since 2015.

As County Clerk, Hanlon is responsible for the maintaining of real property transfer records and oversees the Monmouth County Archives in Manalapan, which is dedicated to the preserving and protecting of Monmouth County’s government and other historical records dating back to the 17th century.

“In my role as County Clerk, improving and updating the preservation process of our precious County government records is a top priority,” said Clerk Hanlon. “We have proudly invested in better technology, equipment, and storage to further protect these records and to make them more readily available to the public.”

“I have also worked to make Monmouth County’s historical records come to life by implementing educational programs, video projects, and social media campaigns for residents of all ages,” said Clerk Hanlon.

Other 2021 award winners at the Middletown Township Public Library Centennial gala include: Jim Davis Jr., Terry Davis and Jim Davis Sr. of Whirl Construction, recipients of the Business Generosity Award, Abe and Linda Littenberg, owners of A Child’s Place School, recipients of the Joyce Murphy Imagination in Education Award, and George, Vita and Richard Kolber, recipients of the Outstanding Philanthropist Award.
