ABSTRACT
This series consists of various selected newspapers.
HISTORY
Newspapers with cover stories relating to specific world events have been donated to the archives to keep for educational and research purposes. These newspapers come from a variety of sources but are kept as one collection.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The newspapers are not complete sets, but are rather single issues that cover significant events in United States and world history. The collection contains both full and incomplete issues of the newspapers.
ACCESS RESTRICTIONS
This collection is open to researchers.
USE
This collection is available to researchers in its original format. An inventory of the newspapers is included in this finding aid. An electronic index is also available to search at the Monmouth County Archives. The index can be searched by newspaper, date, subject, and publishing location.
ARRANGEMENT
This collection is arranged in boxes by subject and within the box by newspaper title. When there are multiple issues from the same newspaper the issues are arranged chronologically.
REPOSITORY
Monmouth County Archives
125 Symmes Drive
Manalapan, NJ 07726
Phone: 732-308-3771
ACQUISITION INFORMATION
This collection was donated to the Monmouth County Archives by various donors. The Bonica Collection (Box 11) was donated to the Archives in June of 2016 by Marie T. Bonica in memory of her husband, Vincent. At the time of his death in 2015, Vincent Bonica was a retired police officer and Manalapan resident since 1981. The County Archivist selected these newspapers from a substantially larger quantity saved by Mr. Bonica.
PROCESSING INFORMATION
An inventory was created by Ellen Smith in June 2012, and updated June 2013 and May 2015. A finding aid was created by Tara L. Christiansen in June 2012 and updated by Mary Hussey in July 2016 and by George Joynson in April 2018, and by Mary Hussey in July 2018 and March 2019.
