HISTORY
These files were part of a transfer of 386 record cartons to the Archives in January 1995. The record series contained approximately 92 cartons of files pertaining to meetings of the Board of Chosen Freeholders. With approval of the Clerk of the Board, these files were weeded for documents duplicative of the Minute Books (Series 1900). As a result of this procedure, thirty-six boxes of files were retained and fifty-six discarded.
SCOPE & CONTENT
Although the most important business of the Board is recorded in the Minute Books, the Clerk’s files contain many documents of interest, for example:

3/18/1989 | Letter from astronaut Russell Schweikert |
4/6/1971 | Records pertaining to Loretta Foy, who worked for County for 52 years without taking a sick day |
8/17/1971 | Recognition of noted explorer Commander Isaac “Ike” Schlossbach |
7/8/1972 | Letter re revenue sharing received from V.P. Spiro Agnew |
