Archives and History Day is an event that celebrates Archives Week, designated by the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference; Archives Month, proclaimed by the Society of American Archivists; and Humanities Festival Week, sponsored by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. Authorized and under the direction of the Monmouth County Clerk, Christine Giordano Hanlon, the festivity was planned by the Monmouth County Archives with the cooperation of the Monmouth County Library. Principal funding for Archives Week was provided by Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon and the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Monmouth County Archives staff involved included Gary D. Saretzky (planning), Shelagh Reilly (coordination), Joya Anderson, Dennis Billingsby, Patrick Caiazzo, Frank DeSpigna, Mary Hussey, George Joynson, Hank Koch, Margaret Mara, Eugene Osovitz, Mark Pizza, Chuck Steiner, and Gail Tomlinson. Archives volunteer Eunice Mayfield also helped with preparations. A special thank you to Valería Pasko of the Monmouth County Art Department and her staff for promotional bookmarks and posters, and for exhibit installation. Also, many thanks to Felicia Santaniello, Deputy County Clerk, for arrangements in regard to the Clayton and French Awards.

For publicity, the following are acknowledged with gratitude: Director Laura Kirkpatrick, Danielle Garske, and Tricia Ring, Monmouth County Department of Public Information; Colleen Berry, Donna Mansfield, and Joan Moss, Monmouth County Library; Linda Barth, ed., League of Historical Societies of New Jersey News; Judy Bretzger, ed., The Monmouth Connection (Monmouth County Genealogy Society); Janet Bunde, President, Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York; Sarah Hull, ed., The Chronicle, and Debra Schiff, Chair, New Jersey Library Association History & Preservation Section; Michael P. Martin, ed., Mid-Atlantic Archivist; Celia Caust-Ellenbogen, Archives Month Philly; Laura Poll, MARAC/NJ Caucus; and Patricia Tumulty, New Jersey Library Association.

The exhibit in the Library gallery of the Monmouth County Library, “The World War I Era: New Jersey in Focus,” was curated by Gary D. Saretzky, with exhibit preparation by Eugene Osovitz and contributions by about a dozen collaborators as listed in the exhibit catalog. Thanks in particular to Laura Poll, at that time archivist/librarian at the Monmouth County Historical Association, who loaned WWI posters that were digitized by the Monmouth County Archives and printed by Aaron Townsend. Editorial assistance for the exhibition catalog was ably provided by Joe Bilby, Randall Gabrielan, and Patrick Caiazzo; Aaron Townsend designed the attractive covers. Additional exhibits in the Library lobby were provided courtesy of Brian Foulkes, with printing by Valerie Pasko, and Renée Kumar.

The grand prize for the New Jersey History Game is a gift card provided by County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon. Other prizes include books and other items donated by the Monmouth County Archives; Monmouth County Clerk; Monmouth County Genealogy Society; Monmouth County Historical Association; Monmouth County Parks; Elsalyn Palmisano; Rutgers University Special Collections & University Archives (courtesy of Ron Becker); New Jersey Historic Trust; Haddonfield Public Library; Gary D. Saretzky; and the late George H. Moss, Jr.
